About Us

Mission

Our mission is to serve as faithful stewards of the assets entrusted to us: to protect owners’ investments, deliver consistent and respectful resident experiences, and support the local vendor community through dependable partnerships. We operate with integrity, transparency, and professionalism in every interaction.

Values and Stewardship

Softwind Property Management is a faith-based company guided by the Golden Rule. We view stewardship as managing another person’s resources for the owner’s benefit rather than our own. Our core values—Stewardship, Integrity, Trustworthiness, Clear Communication, Responsiveness, Transparency, Professionalism, Dependability, Respect, and Relationship-Driven Service—guide every decision and process.

How We Serve

  • Owners

We treat each property as if it were our own. As your property manager, we focus on preserving asset value through proactive maintenance, accurate financial reporting, effective rent collection, and strategic tenant placement. Our goal is to deliver dependable returns while minimizing risk and administrative burden for owners.

  • Residents

We are committed to providing clean, safe, and well-maintained homes. Clear communication, prompt responsiveness to maintenance requests, and respectful tenant relations define the resident experience we create. By prioritizing the resident experience, we reduce turnover and help maintain stable occupancy.

  • Vendors

We partner with skilled, vetted vendors to ensure quality repairs and service. By hiring reliable vendors, we help sustain their livelihoods and maintain strong relationships built on mutual respect, timely payment, and professional expectations.

Julie Newman is the founder and owner of Softwind Property Management and Softwind Realty, where she serves as broker and property manager. She is passionate about helping people with their real estate and property management needs, and believes every client deserves honest guidance, thoughtful service and a positive experience from start to finish. With over 25 years of experience in the North Carolina real estate industry, Julie has built a career defined by expertise, integrity, and a deep-seated commitment to her clients. As the founder of Softwind Property Management and Softwind Realty, Julie has pivoted her decades of real estate knowledge to focus exclusively on providing high-level personalized service.

Julie’s approach is rooted in the principle of faithful stewardship. For her, managing a property isn't just about rent collection; it’s about managing another person’s resources with the same care and attention she would give her own. This "Golden Rule" philosophy ensures that property owners receive maximized returns and proactive maintenance, while residents enjoy safe, well-maintained homes with respectful communication.

What truly sets Julie apart is her unique background. Before entering real estate, she earned a degree in Materials Engineering from NCSU and spent 15 years in Information Technology at Duke Energy. This "engineering eye" for detail, coupled with 30+ years of customer service experience, allows her to navigate the technical and relational complexities of property management with unmatched precision.

Her professional credentials reflect her dedication to the craft. Julie is a Realtor® and a member of the National Association of Residential Property Managers (NARPM), currently serving as the Secretary of the Charlotte Chapter. She also holds the Graduate REALTOR® Institute (GRI) designation and is a Pricing Strategy Advisor (PSA) specialist.

When she is not working, Julie treasures time spent with her husband, their children, and their grandchildren. She is also deeply involved in her church, where she finds great fulfillment in leading Ladies’ Bible Studies. Her home wouldn’t be complete without their giant Rhodesian Ridgeback, who—despite his impressive size—is firmly convinced he is a lap dog.
